Video – Stalingrad Holdouts – German Resistance After the Surrender
Think the German 6th Army surrendered at Stalingrad on 2 February 1943? Well, not all of it – over 11,000 German troops fought on for weeks afterwards! This is the largely unknown story of the Stalingrad Holdouts.

The cameraman is invisible
You said that the part about the 11,000 strong resistance is overlooked then spent 80% of the video talking about what everyone else does
They were keep fighting since they realised that they will die in soviet camps..
The Germans were a formidable fighting force they could’ve won the war. Unfortunately they lost against the Soviets due to a number of things but mainly the weather however it didn’t help having a a named General Friedrich Paulus who had no back bone in his body a complete waste of space of a leader who let his men down disgracefully.
Whats the name of theme song?
This video is BS. It put the whole words what Germans go through. How they died in camps, etc. But NOT a single word how many people these Germans killed in that same city. There are no words about how many civilians are killed, how many Russian soldiers get killed, there are no words about what struggle residents faced once the battle was over…. Pathetic.
Thank you
GOOD FOR THOSE 11,000 GERMAN WARRIORS…..EVEN ABANDONED BY HITLER!!!
would any of you surrender?
For the West, the war with Germany was just an inner squabble. From the dark ages to modern history, final goal has always been complete destruction of Russia as ethnos.
My grandfather was a machine gunner with the Hungarian 2nd army. Somehow he survived the collapse – I am not sure if he was ever captured by the Russians, but he was in Ukraine for some time until after the end of the war, at the farm of a Ukrainian woman. Details are somewhat hazy, unsurprisingly, but he did eventually make it back home to his family in Hungary (around 1947 I believe). It was a huge surprise when he returned, as they all thought he was dead
I keep getting unsubbed for no reason
Stalin the Russian "president" um not sure that is an accurate word for him…
Americans helped.
Sixth army got screwed and if u ask me it wasn't hitler who doomed them
Look at germans today weak military and no leadership
Knights CROSS FOR EVERY MANN
Glad Mark uses RAILWAY STATION instead of the American train station which has become too popular here in the UK.
I think your narrating for ww2 documentaries rivals that of Laurence Olivier in the World at War very well done. Great channel.
Why surrender
This vulgar river must have been quite something if Germany und Russia fought over it.
They were the first real army to fight the new world order followed by Gadaffi and Assad. Remember history is written by the victors.
They were men who were not ready to give up. Honor.
Thank you Dr. Mark, amazing realistic war story.
I would love to see one day a story of the Algerians soldiers who faught with french in WW2.
If you commit suicide you will be shot! What a load of crap!
I bet most of them who surrendered to the Russians wished they fought to.the death?
The Russian winter has saved Russia more than once, strange Hitler made the same mistake as Napoleon! Just like Hitler's strange decision to halt his tank and not finish the British at Dunkirk! The North sea has saved Great Britain a few times!
The former airfield now belongs to the Cherbourg radio control model flying club. Some years ago I worked on a magazine about the hobby and we went there to interview the world model flying champion, who lives in the town. We visited the field – in their hut they’ve got an old Stuka bomb that was found and dug up.
Tick Tick Tick Tick – Every 7 Seconds a German Soldier Dies on Russian Soil – Stalingrad is a Mass Grave – Tick Tick Tick
"Weak Romanians" you said?
In this case, there are people mobilized against their will and send to fight for a lost cause in a foreign country, former friend.
(I'm not Romanian)
It is remarkable how Germanic "total war" unsurprisingly turned against them. Better die in fight rather than in captivity, LOL.
5:43 Call of Duty 2 – Russian Campaign – Stalingrad.
I noticed in a lot of footage and even in movies like Land of Mine or the 3 part series Generation War, German soldiers wore neck scarves or "bandana" type wraps. Was this a certain cultural thing of that time?
I look back on these battles and think what I would have done or what I would have been. The thing that separates these peoples are ideologies. Both failed Ideologies. Communist. Fascist. Two sides of the same coin. You're going to get a quick look into America what it's like when you try to impose either onto the States.

Apparently a lot of people with former nazi and wehrmacht grandpa's 🤣 and non-german last names lol
Every single German soldiers should have got a thousand times more than they did from every Soviet soldier. The brutality rape murder and destruction that the Germans root upon the Soviet and anybody they fought made them deserve nothing but a torturous long-suffering death!
Excellent documentary. Once again Dr Felton has uncovered a hitherto unknown story from WW2. I'd always thought that German resistance at Stalingrad had ended with Paulus's surrender.
Astonishing attention to detail and accuracy
